Clock Services
I repair antique clocks to a high standard. Every clock is different, so your clock is carefully inspected to determine what work is required.
Typically, the clock will be fully disassembled, inspected, the pivots will be polished and wear on the plates addressed, the mainsprings or weight cables inspected for wear/damags, and finally the clock is reassembled, and adjusted.
I repair carriage clocks, dial clocks, longcase clocks, french clocks and any other clock of good quality.
Clocks require highly specialized skills and are extremely labour-intensive to service and repair. As a rule of thumb, prices start at around €300 per “train”. A time-only clock is a single-train clock, one that chimes is double-train, Westminster clocks are typically three-train. Simply count the key-holes!
I appreciate that sometimes the service/repair cost can exceed the value of the clock, but often the clock is much beloved, and is even more beloved if it reliably tells the time!
